Grand Opening Event

As in years past, we'll kick off Journalism under Fire with an amazing opening night full of music, a virtual cocktail or two, and our headliners talking all about Covering Crisis.

Journalism under Fire: Grand Opening Event

5:30 - 7:00pm MST

Following an introduction from CIR's Executive Director, Sandy Campbell, we'll watch New Mexico's own Eliza Gilkyson performing "Promises to Keep". Then we'll hear from Santa Fe's Mayor, Alan Webber. A former journalist and editor, he's spoken at both previous incarnations of Journalism under Fire, XYZ.

Then we welcome Dana Priest (The Washington Post) to the stage. She has headlined both previous Journalism under Fires, and will offer us Reflections on Three Years of Journalism under Fire.

She'll then segue into the moderator's chair and interview Pulitzer Prize-winning duo Nicholas Kristof (The New York Times) and Sheryl WuDunn (author) on the conference's overarching theme of Covering Crisis.
