Journalism under Fire is a program of the Santa Fe Council on International Relations (CIR).
The conference was launched in 2018 in Santa Fe, New Mexico as an in-person event and held again in 2019 -- when it welcomed over 1,600 attendees, including over 400 students and
65 international journalists over three days.
The conference was moved to the virtual realm over four weeks in 2020 due to global travel restrictions related to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Every year, the U.S. State Department 's International Visitor Leadership Program brings over 400 global leaders to Santa Fe, NM

Community education program

We bring people together to discuss ideas and solutions to the complex global-to-local challenges we face - now through our dynamic livestream channel



We create outstanding opportunities for high school and college students, including our Fellows Program, our NextGenSim policy simulation, and, designed for JUF, our NextGenNews news literacy modules.

CIR membership dues directly support our global education programs in high schools and colleges.
